Westlake, Ohio – Central Arizona, Mesa and Pima all finished among the top 20 schools in the annual Daktronics Cup survey of NJCAA scholarship division schools for the 2018-19 season.
CAC was the top ACCAC finisher with an eighth-place showing. MCC was 12th and Pima 17th among the over 400 schools in the rankings.
The cup is determined by a point system using finishes in NJCAA national championship competition. It is administered by the National Association of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) and sponsored by scoreboard manufacturer Daktronics.
Central enhanced its standing with a pair of national championships. The Vaqueros won Division I titles in baseball and men's cross country.
Mesa's top national showing came in baseball where the T-Birds placed second in the Division II national championship tournament.
For Pima, men's soccer was the highlight with the Aztecs capturing the NJCAA Division I national crown.
