Two ACCAC women's basketball teams made significant jumps in the NJCAA Division I national poll released Nov. 25.
Central Arizona jumped from #11 to #6 after two conference wins. CAC defeated Arizona Western, 108-93, and Mesa, 88-66, to improve to 6-1 overall. Meanwhile, Cochise, the only unbeaten conference team at 7-0, moved up two spots to #20 after wins over Pima, 76-71, and Scottsdale, 83-32.
Among DII women, Pima slipped from sixth to ninth. The 4-2 Aztecs beat Eastern Arizona, 77-76, after falling to Cochise earlier in the week. Chandler-Gilbert entered the rankings among the others receiving votes. The Coyotes, 5-2, took down South Mountain, 89-69, and Glendale, 66-55.
Among the men the rankings weren't as good. The only team listed in DI is Eastern Arizona which is now 8-1 and remained among the others receiving votes. The Gila Monsters fell to Scottsdale, 83-81, and defeated Pima, 96-69.
In DII, Pima and Scottsdale received votes. PCC, 3-3, slipped from #14 after a win over Cochise, 91-78, but a loss to EAC. SCC jumped into the receiving votes category. It topped EAC but then lost to Cochise, 99-96.
