Baseball and softball joined the rankings parade this week, with the ACCAC well-represented in both sports.
In Division I softball, Arizona Western (7-2, 0-0) ranks #11, down two spots from the pre-season poll and Yavapai (7-4, 1-0) remained #16.
In Division II, the conference has three teams listed, topped by #1 ranked Phoenix (9-0, 4-0) which moved up from the #3 slot. In addition, Glendale (7-1, 2-0) entered the rankings for the first time at #16 and Mesa (8-2, 2-2) was listed among others receiving votes.
ACCAC baseball may be the most powerful league in the country with five schools mentioned in the Division I rankings and two more in Division II. Conference play begins this week. Defending national champion Central Arizona (7-1-1) remained in the top spot in the country. Then there are three teams in consecutive slots. Pima (11-0) is #12, Arizona Western (8-3) 13th, and Yavapai (6-1) #14. Cochise (7-3) is among the others category. In Division II, Mesa (9-0) last year's national runners-up, jumped one spot to #2 and Scottsdale (7-2) is receiving votes.
In basketball, among the women in Division I, Central Arizona (22-3, 17-0) improved two spots to #11 and Cochise (21-4, 13-4) received votes. In the Division II poll, Mesa (16-8, 13-4) fell from #16 to #20 while Pima (18-7, 11-6) received votes
Division I men's basketball sees Eastern Arizona (21-4, 13-4), which is receiving votes, is the only team listed. In Division II, Scottsdale (20-5, 12-5) slipped three places to #18.
