Four still haven't lost in conference softball action

Four teams remain unbeaten in ACCAC as the softball season rolls deeper into the regular season.

Part of Saturday's schedule was wiped out by rain although, fortunately, only two doubleheaders were slated and one actually was played.

Glendale (11-1, 6-0) squeezed in its two games with Chandler-Gilbert winning 5-4 (8) and 10-8. Bibianna Acosta went 2-4 with a pair of RBIs and a home run in the opener, while the Gauchos piled up 14 hits in the nightcap including homers by Josette Valdez and Kendyl Terry. GCC has won nine straight.

Three teams are 8-0 in conference play.

Phoenix, unbeaten overall at 15-0, only played outside the league, blowing out Southern Nevada, 8-0 and 12-3, both in five innings. Nicole Villa was 2-3 with a double, a homer and three RBIs. Brianna Hardy had two hits as well in game one. The Bears pounded out four home runs in game two, by Kamryn Moctezuma, Jullian Pavlik, Jocelyn LaFlesch and Avery Dome.

Central Arizona (12-5, 8-0) has won nine in a row after sweeping Scottsdale, 18-13 and 16-4. The Vaqueros pounded out 33 hits in the doubleheader led by Chloe Krason with six hits as well as three doubles, a home run and seven RBIs.

Arizona Western (15-2, 8-0) ran its winning streak to 13 with a pair of shutouts of Paradise Valley, 9-0 (5), 8-0 (6). Nicole Moran was 2-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs in the first game and then went 4-4 with a double, homer and four driven in during the second contest.  Anajhi Grijalva and McKenzie Gray pitched the two shutouts.
