Scottsdale topples Glendale in feature volleyball match

  In a matchup of two of the ACCAC's top teams, Scottsdale, listed among the others receiving votes in the NJCAA Division II national rankings, took down Glendale, the #4 club, 3-1, on the Artichokes home floor.

  SCC had three players in double figures in kills as it won, 25-23, 20-25, 28-26, 25-19.

  Three-time conference Player of the Week Jazmyn Wheeler, who had 19 kills, led Scottsdale as it extended its conference record to 5-0, with an 8-4 overall mark. Jocelyn Tiechman contributed 17 kills and Yazmina Gonzelez added 15. Gonzalez also had 23 digs. Terayah Stukes led GCC with 15 kills and 19 digs, one of three Gauchos who had 19. Anna Myers and Anika Payne were the others.

  Yavapai and Arizona Western also remain unbeaten in conference play at 3-0. YC, #20 in the NJCAA rankings, beat South Mountain, 3-0, and Eastern Arizona, 3-2, to run its overall mark to 11-2.  The Roughriders won the decisive third set, 15-12.

  AZW topped Pima, 3-1, and Chandler-Gilbert, 3-0, to improve to 10-9 in all matches.

  Mesa, trying to keep pace at 4-1 in conference action, beat Phoenix, 3-0, in its only ACCAC action and is now 9-3 overall and No. 17 nationally in Division II.
