Scottsdale, Yavapai sit atop ACCAC volleyball

  Scottsdale and Yavapai both remained unbeaten in ACCAC volleyball play as of Oct. 6.

  SCC, ranked #13 in Division II, picked up conference wins with 3-0 triumphs over Pima and Arizona Western. In the Pima match Jazmyn Wheeler had 16 kills and Yazmina Gonzalez added 12 with Mikayla Sparks adding 18 digs. In the AZW win Wheeler added 17 more kills and Gonzalez 11. The Artichokes also scored a 3-0 win over the Grand Canyon Club to improve to 13-4 and 8-0 in conference play.

  Meanwhile, YC also won twice in ACCAC play with wins over AZW, 3-1, and Chandler-Gilbert, 3-0. The Roughriders, #19 in Division I, were led by Heather Wanninger who had a combined 38 digs in the two victories as well as Kennedy Wright who had a total of 23 kills. YC is now 6-0 in the ACCAC.

  Glendale, the #4 team in DII, had only one match during the week but it was a thrilling, 3-2, win over Mesa. Breana Allen contributed 24 kills and Terayah Stukes 17 with Annika Payne adding in 20 digs. The win lifted GCC to 17-2 and 6-1 in league play. MCC's Lauren Palmer had 15 kills and 13 digs. It was the #17 T-Birds only match of the week leaving them with a 12-5 overall record and 4-3 conference mark.

  Arizona Western, despite two losses, is now 4-2 in conference and 11-11 in all matches.
