Third-seeded Scottsdale won its first two matches at the NJCAA Division II Volleyball National Championship and has reached the semi-final round.
The Artichokes first defeated 14th-seeded Oakland, 3-0. No details were available for the match. That put SCC up against 11th-seeded McHenry, an upset winner over #6 Gulf Coast State, resulting in a 3-0 win for Scottsdale, 25-15, 25-19, 25-19. That puts the Artichokes up against #2 seed Coffeyville, Friday at 4:30 p.m., MST.
In the McHenry match, SCC was paced by ACCAC Player of the Year Jazmyn Wheeler who had 11 kills and Yazmina Gonzalez who had ten. Wheeler also contributed 13 digs, while setter Catie Speas added 33 assists. Jocelyn Teichman and Kylie Johnson each added three block assists.
