Men's Basketball

Division I– Yaxel Lendebog – Arizona Western – Averaged 12.5 points in two Matadors' wins, but shot a fine. .688 (11-16) from the floor. The freshman from Pennsauken, N.J., also had a total of 23 rebounds, 11 assists, six steals and three blocks in an average of 22.0 minutes per game.

Division II– Traivar Jacksom – Pima – A freshman from Anchorage, AK., he averaged 17.0 points on 21-33 shooting (.636) as the Aztecs began the season 3-0. Added 33 rebounds, eight blocks, seven steals and five assists.

Women's Basketball

Division I - Alliance Ndiba - Arizona Western - The freshman from Lubumbashi, Congo, averged a double-double with 16.0 points and 11.0 rebounds as AZW won its first three games.

Division II - Halle Payne - Scottsdale - Scored 16 points and added eight rebounds as SCC won its season opener. The freshman from Bloomfield, N.M., and Bloomfield H.S., also had four steals and a blocked shot.
