Pima remained undefeated and picked up its first ACCAC men's soccer win with an 11-0 triumph over GateWay as official conference play commenced.
The Aztecs ran their record to 7-0 overall and began the week with a 3-1 victory over Yavapai. In that one, Ulysses Torres broke a 1-1 halftime tie with a goal barely after the second half began. Jakob Larson had tallied for YC very near the start of the game, but Brian Vu equaled the score in the 11th minute. Taein Ka added a little breathing room for PCC in the 19th minute. Vu then recorded a hat trick against GWCC wit h Jesus Virgen collecting two goals. Juan Suarez made five saves in the shutout in an 11-0 win.
Glendale began conference play with a 4-2 win over Mesa. That followed a 6-2 non-league victory over GateWay.
Phoenix started league play with a 10-0 win over Chandler-Gilbert. The Bears' Ernest Orsonio netted three goals and Alexis Avilla had two. It was PC's only contest of the week.
Paradise Valley and Scottsdale opened league play with a 3-3 two overtime tie. After SCC jumped to a 2-0 lead on goals by Alex Sanchez and Christian Palmer, PVCC scored the next three goals. Alex Huguez, Julian Aceves and Moises Velazquez put the Pumas on top, 3-2, only to see the Artichokes' Rolf Andela tie it in the 67th minute. Even two overtimes couldn't break the deadlock.
It was Paradise Valley's only game of the week as a contest with Chandler-Gilbert wad postponed. Scottsdale, however, lost at Arizona Western earlier in the week, 7-0, in non-conference action. Michele Signorelli collected a hat trick for AZW. Atsuki Sato made two saves.
