Yavapai is the Region I, Division I volleyball champions following a 25-21, 23-25, 25-21, 25-11 win in the regional championship game Wednesday in Prescott against Arizona Western.

  The victory moves the Roughriders into the District D championship game which YC will host Saturday at 7:00 p.m., against Hill College (Texas).

  Sophomore setter Alia Rasmussen was named match MVP after leading the way with 30 assists, 11 digs and four blocks.

  In addition, Heather Wanninger contributed 20 digs and three service aces. Mailani Manuel added 11 kills.

  Yavapai is now 11-5, while AZW finishes its season 9-10.
