Women's Basketball
Division I – Catarina Ferriera - Eastern Arizona – Scored 19 points and hauled in nine rebounds in a victory over Central Arizona. She also added two assists and a steal. It was her third selection of the year.
Division II – Nikya Orange – Pima – A sophomore from Tucson's Tanque Verde H.S., she popped in 19 in a win over Cochise, going 9-13 from the floor. In addition, she had 12 rebounds, four assists and a block.
Men's Basketball
Division I – Jonathan Garcia – Cochise – Scored 19 points on 6-10 shooting from the floor in a win over Central Arizona. Also had four assists, a steal and a rebound. He's a freshman from El Paso, Texas and Clint H.S.
Softball
Division I – Pitcher of the Week – Cheyenne Sandoval – Yavapai – Over the course of four YC wins the freshman from California batted .778 (7-9) with two home runs, a double and seven RBIs. She also scored eight runs and walked twice.
Division I – Player of the Week – Sarah Norton – Central Arizona – A freshman from Glendale, AZ, she pitched a 4-1 win over South Mountain, going seven innings with the run unearned. She allowed just four hits and struck out an amazing 17.
Division II – Pitcher of the Week – Jackie Traughber – South Mountain – Pitched four times during the week, going 26.2 innings. Allowed just five earned runs and struck out 14, while going 3-1. She is a freshman from Desert Vista H.S. in Phoenix.
Division II Player of the Week – Tori Van Arsdale – South Mountain – The freshman from Chandler, AZ, and Seton Catholic H.S., went 9-13 (.692) in four games. That included two home runs, a triple and 11 RBIs. In addition, she stole five bases, scored five runs and even walked once.
Baseball
Division I Player of the Week – Parker Schmidt – Pima – In three Aztec wins he was 6-9 (.667) with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs. The freshman from Las Vegas, Nev., and Desert Oasis H.S., also scored seven runs and walked three times.
Division I Pitcher of the Week – Wilson Bannister – Pima – A freshman from Las Cruces, N.M., and Centennial H.S., he got a win over Glendale with seven shutout innings, allowing just one hit and striking out five.
