ACCAC Players of the Week (2/5 - 2/11)

The ACCAC has announced the players of the week (2/5 - 2/11) for baseball, softball, and men's & women's basketball.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Baseball

Div. II Pitcher - Andrew Yusypchuk - Chandler-Gilbert - The sophomore from Edmonton, Canada, allowed six hits and four runs in 6.2 innings pitched. Yusypchuk also had nine strikeouts in a 5-2 win over Phoenix College.

Div. II Position Player - Dante Turgeon - Chandler-Gilbert - The freshman from Gilbert had three hits, three runs, and five RBIs on eight at-bats as the Coyotes won back-to-back games over Phoenix College.

 

Softball

Div. I Pitcher - Jaileen Mancha - Eastern Arizona - The sophomore from Las Cruces, NM, pitched in six innings and allowed only one run and three hits. Mancha also had six strikeouts as the Gila Monsters defeated Pima.

Div. I Position Player - Torie Au - Yavapai - The freshman from Wahiawa, HI, had seven hits, two home runs, six RBIs, and five runs on 11 at-bats in four games last week.

Div. II Pitcher - Paige Salazar - Chandler-Gilbert - The sophomore from Queen Creek pitched 12 innings in two games last week. Salzar allowed just four runs and 11 hits and had six strikeouts as she went 2-0 as the starting pitcher.

Div. II Position Player - Lakisha Shorty - Scottsdale - The sophomore from Gallup, NM, had a .571 batting average, hit two home runs, scored two runs, and had four RBIs as the Fighting Artichokes split a two-game series versus Glendale.

 

Men's Basketball

Div. I - Marquis Hargrove - Arizona Western - The sophomore from Sacramento, CA, averaged 17 points and six rebounds on 56.3% shooting. The Matadors won both games against Central Arizona and Chandler-Gilbert.

Div. II - Cameron Faas - Scottsdale - The sophomore from Scottsdale averaged 17 points and 3.5 rebounds on 65% shooting and 66.7% from three-point range. The No. 7 Fighting Artichokes won both their games over Phoenix College and Yavapai.

 

Women's Basketball

Div. I - Maddison Zugna - Arizona Western - The sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, averaged 15.5 points on 71% shooting, seven rebounds, and 2.5 blocks last week. Zugna helped lead the lady Matadors in wins over Central Arizona and Chandler-Gilbert.
 
 
Div. II -  Ann Marie Batista - Mesa - The freshman from Queen Creek averaged 14.5 points and five rebounds in two games last week. Batista went 7-11 from three-point range in a road win against #13 Pima.
