Two ACCAC teams ranked No. 1 in latest NJCAA polls

DI Men’s Soccer

Arizona Western moved up one spot to No. 1 in the latest NJCAA DI Men’s Soccer poll after winning a pair of games last week. The Matadors opened the week with a 1-0 win at Yavapai before returning home to beat Scottsdale 3-0 on Saturday. Arizona Western remains unbeaten as they head to Tucson to play Pima before hosting GateWay on Saturday.

DII Men’s Soccer

Pima jumped to No. 2 in the NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer poll thanks to a week that included a 4-1 win over the then-ranked 14th Mesa Thunderbirds on Tuesday. With the win, Pima has now won seven consecutive games, allowing just two goals in the process. The Aztecs host the No. 1 team in DI, Arizona Western, on Tuesday, October 10.

Phoenix dropped two spots in the latest rankings to No. 4 after splitting a pair of games last week. The Bears started the week with a 7-0 win over South Mountain before falling to Glendale 3-0 on Saturday. The loss to the Gauchos was the Bear’s first defeat of the season. Phoenix looks to bounce back when they host Yavapai on Saturday.

Mesa fell three spots in the latest poll to No. 17 after starting the week with a 4-1 loss to Pima on Tuesday before bouncing back on Saturday with a 6-0 win over GateWay. The Thunderbirds are back in action on Tuesday, taking on Paradise Valley on the road on Tuesday before returning home to face Chandler-Gilbert on Saturday.

DI Women’s Soccer

Arizona Western stayed at No. 9 for another week after picking up a pair of wins the past week to extend its winning streak to nine games. The Lady Matadors started the week with a 4-2 win over Yavapai on Tuesday before beating Scottsdale 4-0 at home on Saturday.

DII Women’s Soccer

Phoenix remained at No. 2 in the latest NJCAA DII Women’s Soccer poll after outscoring its opponents 13-0 in two games last week. The Bears started the week by beating South Mountain 8-0 before shutting out Glendale 5-0 on Saturday. The Bears have won four games in a row.

Scottsdale dropped one spot to No. 11 after splitting a pair of games last week. The Fighting Artichokes started the week with a 5-1 win over Cochise on Tuesday before falling to Arizona Western 4-0 on Saturday. The loss to Arizona Western was Scottsdale’s first loss since the month of August.

DI Volleyball

Arizona Western dropped four spots to No. 20 in the latest poll after playing three matches last week. The Lady Matadors opened the week with a 3-0 win over Pima before dropping a match to Glendale in five sets the next night. Arizona Western finished a busy week with a 3-0 win over Yavapai on Friday night.

DII Volleyball

Scottsdale jumped one spot to the top of rankings in NJCAA DII Volleyball, coming in at No. 1 in this week’s poll. The Fighting Artichokes remained undefeated, winning their lone match of the week back on Wednesday, sweeping Mesa 3-0.

Chandler-Gilbert moved up to No. 14 in this week’s poll after sweeping a pair of matches last week. The Coyotes started the week with a 3-0 win over Yavapai on Wednesday and finished the week with a 3-0 win over Mesa. Chandler-Gilbert has now won four consecutive matches.
