ACCAC leaders the same - Yavapai and South Mountain

  Yavapai and South Mountain remain tied for first place in ACCAC baseball after both won three of four conference contests last week.

  YC (22-3, 12-2) opened the week with a split at Arizona Western. The Roughriders won the opener 6-2 (7) breaking it open with four runs in the last two innings. It then took 11 innings for AZW to grab a 7-6 victory in the nightcap with the Matadors scoring twice in the bottom of the 11th. Yavapai then Swept Pima, 8-7 (8), 8-4 (7). The first game saw YC walk off with a single in the bottom of the eighth.

  SMCC began the week with a 4-3 (7), 12-8 sweep of Eastern Arizona. Game one saw EAC grab a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh, but the Cougars rebounded with two of their own in the bottom half of the inning for the win. Eastin Erwin tied it with a home run and Justin Quinn walked with the bases loaded to win it. South then split with Cochise, 4-0 (7) and 9-10. Braydon Brooks pitched a four-hitter in the opener with nine strikeouts. The Apaches scored in the bottom of the ninth in game two to spoil SMCC's week. Davis Heller was 3-4 with a double and three RBIs, while Sean Cooper had three hits for CC and drove in two.

  Central Arizona (16-8-2, 9-5) fell in three out of four during the week. The Vaqueros opened the week with a split with Pima, falling 4-3 (7) and winning 5-4 (10). CAC rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh in game one, but came up just short. Preston Godfery's single in the home half of the tenth accounted for the win in that game. But CAC then fell twice at Eastern Arizona, 6-4 (7), 6-5.

  Scottsdale (15-8, 8-6) has won seven in a row after taking four last week. The Artichokes first swept Glendale, 13-2, 4-3. Nick Barendrick led the opener by going 3-4 with a double and three RBIs. SCC then got a walk-off win in the second contest. Scottsdale then took two tight ones from GateWay, 7-5, 11-9. In the second contest, SCC scored three in the bottom of the eighth then withstood a Geckos' comeback which saw them plate four in the top of the ninth. Hayden Brown had three hits including a double, home run and three RBIs.
