With the ACCAC season set to open Tuesday the conference baseball teams got their bats limbered up by scoring at least ten runs in 13 of 21 games against non-conference competition while winning 15 of the contests.
Central Arizona continued its unbeaten ways with four wins over Salt Lake. The margins ranged from two 11-1 blowouts to a 4-3 squeaker in 10 innings and a 4-2 victory. Two of the four games were played at Tempe Diablo Stadium when an out-of-control sprinkler system drench the CAC field.
Meanwhile, Arizona Western remained unbeaten at 6-0 after three lop-sided wins over Northeastern, 11-0, 18-5 and 16-5. The Matadors pounded out 42 hits in just 19 innings and hit four home runs.
Pima got its season going after three conciliations and too three of four from pre-season No. 20 Southern Nevada. The Aztecs dropped the first contest, 9-8, but then won by increasing margins, 13-12, 7-4 and 17-9.
Cochise dropped its first two of the season after winning four straight. The Apaches fell to New Mexico Military, 4-0 and 6-5.
ACCAC play begins Tuesday with a pair of doubleheaders. Mesa travels to Glendale and Yavapai visits GateWay. Both twin-bills begin at noon.
