As conference play commenced Saturday, five teams swept ACCAC doubleheaders.
Central Arizona, Mesa, South Mountain, Cochise and Chandler-Gilbert each won its first two league games.
CAC took two from Paradise Valley, 4-0 and 20-4, and ran its winning streak to 12 in what has so far been a perfect season. In the opener, Mat Olsen pitched six, four-hit innings while striking out eight. Matt Aribel went 3-3 and Seth Beckstead homered at had three RBIs. The Pumas were limited to five singles.
Game two saw the Vaqueros unleash a 15-hit attack. Dayton Dooney had three hits, including a double and triple, while Kiko Romero had three hits as well. He drove in three. Preston Godfrey, J.D. McClaughlin and Tyler Griggs all homered.
South Mountain won twice over Yavapai, 13-6 and 6-5. In the first game McKay Barney had a double and triple as well as four RBIs for SMCC with Holden Breeze and Brodie Marino driving in three each. C.J. Valdez homered for YC.
A last-inning rally by the Roughriders came up a run short in game two. Michael Quinones drove in two runs for the Cougars, while Justin Quinn hit a solo home run. T.J. Wheeler paced Yavapai with a pair of hits including a home run and two RBIs. Damone Hale also homered.
Mesa squeaked out two over Phoenix, 11-10 in seven innings and 6-5. That ran the T-Birds' season-opening winning streak to eight. A walk-off bases loaded walk to Zach Wagner ended game one. Wagner finished with four RBIs. Evan Rice was 4-4 for PC including a triple and a home run.
The second game saw MCC pile up 15 hits, with Connor Culp, Cade Malone and Cody Minnis collecting three each. Rice had two more hits for the Bears, both doubles.
Cochise scored 26 total runs while knocking off Eastern Arizona, 13-2 in five innings and 13-6. In the first game the Apaches got their 13 runs on only seven hits, but also collected nine walks. Eduarney Martinez clubbed a home run. Michael Alvarez and Shraedon Nalone-Starkey each had two hits for the Gila Monsters.
Game two saw Ethan Silcox lead CC with a 4-4 day plus two driven in. Makai Desoto homered. Tyler Mata-Lloyd had three hits, one a double, for Eastern.
Chandler-Gilbert swept Scottsdale, 5-2 and 16-4. Nick Cupp-Allen homered and drove in four for CGCC in the opener. Bennett Eltoft had a pair of hits for SCC.
In the nightcap, Ryan Dobbs and Crewe Parke each had three hits for the Coyotes. Dobbs' included two triples and Parke's two doubls while Cupp-Allen homered again. Andy Kupec paced the Artichokes with two hits.
