Central Arizona streaks to 20 in a row

Central Arizona ran its winning streak to 20 in a row, giving it a perfect 20-0 record, 10-0 in conference play, with four ACCAC baseball wins last week.

The Vaqueros defeated GateWay, 4-0 and 11-1, both in seven inning games and the stopped Arizona Western, 8-3 and 6-3, with the first game a seven-inning doubleheader contest.

In the first GWCC contest Hunter Omid went six shutout innings allowing just two hits and striking out six. Hayden Seldomridge had a pair of hits. The nightcap saw CAC pound out 15 hits led by Devon Dixon with three. Vinnie Langatta homered.

Against AWC, Central put the opening game away with three seventh-inning runs. Seth Beckstead led the way with a double and triple and drove in two. The Matadors got two hits, including a double and RBI, from Daniel Gonzalez. In game two a pair of ninth inning runs provided the Vaqueros with enough of a cushion for Liam Evans to earn his first save of the year. Matt Aribal and Dusty Garcia both homered. Juan Carlos Navarro hit a home run for AZW.

Three teams trail CAC by three games with 7-3 league records: South Mountain (10-4), Yavapai (12-7) and Glendale (8-6).

SMCC beat Paradise Valley, 2-1 and 20-1 and then split a pair with Chandler-Gilbert, winning 5-3 but then falling, 8-5.

Yavapai took two from Mesa, 5-2 and 14-3. It then topped Cochise, 7-6, but dropped the second contest, 17-3.

Glendale split with Eastern Arizona, winning 14-2 by then losing 10-4. The Gauchos took two from Paradise Valley, 7-2 and 3-1.
