Central Arizona continued its amazing run to begin the season, sweeping two more ACCAC baseball series to improve to 24-0 on the year.

  The Vaqueros first swept Pima, 13-4 and 13-5, and then took down Eastern Arizona in a pair of thrillers, 12-11 and 8-6.

  In game one against Pima, CAC was led by Kiko Romero who had three hits. Dusty Garcia drove in four runs and Vinnie Lagatta knocked in three. In the second game, J.D. McLaughlin and Devon Dixon led the way with three hits each. Garcia added a home run.

   The EAC doubleheader was a wild one with CAC pulling out the victories in walk-off fashion in both games. In game one the Vaqueros built an 11-5 lead after five in the seven-inning contest, but watched as EAC tied it with six in the sixth. Garcia knocked a single up the middle with the bases loaded for the win. CAC then scored three in the bottom of the ninth in the nightcap as McLauglin ripped a three-run homer to end it.

  South Mountain is trying to keep pace in second place with a 10-4 conference mark to Central's 14-0. The Cougars took two from Glendale, 10-4 and 6-5, on Wednesday. Brice Martinez, Andrew Lucas and Braden Campbell all had three hits in the opener. Martinez and Lucas both doubled and Campbell drove in three. Brock Johnson drove in a pair for GCC. The Cougars scored three in the seventh inning to take the lead and then Lucas pitched two scoreless innings in relief to pick up his second save of the year. McKay Barney had two hits and drove in a pair for SMCC, while Joseph DiCarlo did likewise for GCC.

  Against Cochise, a three-run rally in the last inning of the seven-inning first game came up just short for South Mountain in a 7-6 loss. Michael Quinones was a perfect 4-4 for South and Lucas homered and drove in three. Aaron Marsh had a pair of hits and two RBIs for CC. The Cougars then won the nightcap, 5-1, as Justin Quinn and Justin Bermudez both homered. Marsh and Makai Desoto both had two hits for the Apaches.

  Third place is a four-way tie as the week begins. Mesa, Arizona Western, Pima and Glendale all have 9-5 ACCAC records.
