The ACCAC baseball season comes down to its final week of the regular season. The regional playoffs begin Thursday, May 6.
In Division I, Central Arizona (39-5, 29-5) has a three-game lead over Pima (35-9, 26-8) with four to play. If the standings hold up those two would begin best-two-of-three series at home against the number three and four seeds.
This week, CAC visits Eastern Arizona and then closes the regular season hosting Cochise. Pima, meanwhile, plays at home against Arizona Western and travels to South Mountain.
Two of those schools currently hold third and fourth place. AZW (28-12, 20-10) holds the lead over South Mountain (28-12, 22-13) but the pair will not wind up playing the same number of games.
Battling for the final playoff spot is Yavapai (24-17, 19-13) which travels to SMCC Tuesday and then hosts EAC Saturday.
In Division II, Phenix and Glendale currently are locked in a tight fight for the No. 1 overall seed, but GCC (19-24, 16-18) has played two more games than the Bears (18-19, 16-18). PC plays both of its remaining doubleheaders at home against Mesa and Paradise Valley. The Gauchos have to go on the road to GateWay and then host Mesa.
Mesa (22-19, 15-17) currently holds a one-game margin over Chandler-Gilbert (18-22, 14-18) and Scottsdale (14-18, 14-18) for third place. MCC has all of its remaining games away, visiting Phoenix and Glendale whereas CGCC has all home games left, taking on Scottsdale and Glendale. SCC also has its remaining contests on the road, travelling to Chandler-Gilbert Tuesday for a crucial doubleheader and then going to Arizona Western.
