Three-horse race for men's basketball title

  Three teams remain in the running for the ACCAC men's basketball championship with three games to play, while the scramble for regional seedings in both divisions remains hot.

  Cochise (21-6, 15-4) has a one-game lead over Eastern Arizona (22-5, 14-5) and Scottsdale (22-5, 14-5).

  The Cochise Apaches have won nine straight They took down Tohono O'odham, 101-60, in their first game of the week. Naje Smith and Damon Wall each scored 23 for CC . Then. Cochise beat Chandler-Gilbert, 63-51, as Smith connected for 24 more and added 13 rebounds. Payton Tilus paced CGCC with 12.

  Eastern Arizona (21-5, 13-5) slipped one game back when it lost at Phoenix, 66-64. The Bears (16-10, 10-8) got 13 points each from Lamar Mitchell and Treyvon McCray, while Jalon Brown paced EAC with 20 and Collin Kelley had a 10-16 double-double. The Gila Monsters bounced back with a 74-65 win at Mesa. Brown scored 18 in that one and Cameron Burist had 15 for MCC (15-12, 11-8).

  Scottsdale (22-5, 14-5) kept itself in the race and guaranteed itself no worse than a tie for the number one seed in the Division II regional by winning twice. SCC first stopped Glendale (16-10, 11-8), 77-65. In that one, Xavier Fuller erupted for 22 points and 14 rebounds and Josh Sutherland had a 12-13 double. Joshuwan Johnson scored 19 and Adam Hamilton had 18 with 12 rebounds for GCC. Scottsdale closed the week with a 90-71 win over Tohono O'odham (4-23, 1-18).  Fuller tossed in 27 more and Boogie Anderson had 22.

  In the Division I seedings race, Mesa (15-12, 11-8) is currently third, a game in front or Arizona Western (16-11, 10-9). Central Arizona (13-14, 8-11) is two behind AZW.

  In Division II, Scottsdale is three up on Pima (17-10, 11-8), Phoenix (17-10, 11-8) and Glendale (16-10, 11-8) with all others eliminated.
