Cochise is the only ACCAC men's basketball team to survive the first five conference games unbeaten.
The Apaches (11-1, 5-0) scored two more wins last week, both on the road. First, they handed Arizona Western (10-3, 3-1) its first loss, 77-70, and then they topped Glendale (8-2, 3-2), 84-79. In the AZW game, Stephen Byard picked up another double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Tyreese Watson added 16 points and Jonathan Garcia had 14. Yaxel Lendeborg also had a double-double for the Matadors with 16 points and 15 rebounds. In the GCC contest, Adam Hamilton also produced at double-double for the Gauchos scoring 19 and grabbing 14 boards. Eric Blackwell popped in 20 for Glendale.
Central Arizona (9-1, 3-1) had only one league contest and edged Scottsdale (5-3, 2-2), 98-97, in overtime as three scored over 20 points and two had double-doubles. Jamison Epps led with 29 points and 14 rebounds, Brenton Woods added 22 points and 12 assists and John White, Jr., scored 21. Unisa Turay popped in 23 points and added 12 assists for SCC while Cameron Faas contributed 20 points. Earlier in the week CAC blasted the Benedictine JV, 116-42 as White came off the bench to score 29.
Arizona Western bounded back from its loss to Cochise to score an 82-70 win at Mesa (0-5, 0-4). Nate Duda led five in double figures with 17. Lendeborg added 15 and 13 boards. B.J. Burries paced MCC with 22 points.
Prior to its loss to Cochise, Glendale, which is in fourth place, also fell to Pima (7-3, 2-3) 91-75 at home. Daniel Moody led five Aztecs in double figures with 17 points. Itury Kitt and Jalen Johnson scored 13 each. For GCC it was Hamilton leading the way with 20 points and ten rebounds.
