Cochise captured the Region I, Division I men's basketball tournament with a 73-67 overtime victory over Arizona Western Monday night in Yuma, AZ.
The Apaches will now move to District play. AZW has a possibility for an at-large berth as well.
CC got a big night from Stephen Byard who hit 11 of 16 shots from the floor en route to 25 points.Jay Rodgers added 14 points and Tyrese Watson and Oscar Cluff 13 each.
The Matadors were led by Yaxel Lendeborg with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Najeeb Muhammad added 13 and Nate Duda 12.
