Four teams won their opening contests of the 2021 season as ACCAC men's soccer got fully underway.
Arizona Western actually won its second contest with a 7-0 triumph over Glendale in non-conference action. Michele Signorelli and Nozomu Kame each tallied twice for the Matadors.
Meanwhile, Paradise Valley, Pima and Scottsdale won their season openers, all in non-league action.
PVCC downed GateWay, 7-2.led by David Case with three goals.
Pima edged Phoenix, 1-0, making a 20th minute goal by Brian Vu stand up. Juan Suarez made nine saves in preserving the shutout.
Scottsdale scored on a penalty kick just after halftime and slipped past Mesa, 1-0. Jack Ireland made one save in procuring the shutout.
