Four remain unbeaten in men's soccer

Two weeks into the season, four ACCAC men's soccer teams still have not been beaten. Arizona Western, Pima, Paradise Valley and Scottsdale are all unbeaten in the young season.

AZW has a 4-0 record after a pair of matches against conference foes that will not count in the standings. Conference play does not officially begin for another week.

Last week, the Matadors squeezed past Phoenix, 4-3, on a penalty kick shootout. That came after PC's Marlon Arce tied the game in the 90th minute. Later in the week AZW swamped Chandler-Gilbert, 9-0, with Michele Signorelli scoring three times and Nozomu Kamei twice.

Pima ran its record to 3-0 with non-league wins over Glendale, 7-0, and Mesa, 4-1. Taein Ka and Francisco Manza each tallied twice against the Gauchos while the scoring was split four ways against MCC.

PVCC went to 2-0 with a 4-2 victory over Phoenix. The Pumas built a 3-0 lead in the first 70 minutes and then held off a charge by the Bears. Alex Huguez had two of the goals.

Scottsdale became 2-0 with a 2-1 win over GateWay. Rolf Andela scored both SCC goals, the last in the 51st minute, with a defensive struggle ensuing.
