Men's soccer showdown waiting but PVCC stands in the way

The showdown in ACCAC men's soccer could be at hand, but Paradise Valley would love to play the spoiler.

The conference has two unbeaten teams, Pima and Arizona Western, which may be on a collision course in the final regular season game on Saturday. But first, third place PVCC wants to have say in that.

The Pumas (4-2-2, 7-3-2) meet AZW Tuesday in Yuma with a chance to ruin the party.

For Pima (14-0, 14-0) the only game remaining is Saturday's contest which will be at home. The Aztecs made sure of the date as an unbeaten team with overtime wins, over Yavapai and Paradise Valley last week, In the YC contest, Hyeonsang Jang, kept PCC unbeaten with a goal in the 103rd  minute of a 2-1 game. Then, against PVCC, it was heroics from Brian Vu,, who tallied in the 104th minute, the game's only goal.

Meanwhile, AWZ (15-0, 15-0) won twice last week, including a non-conference victory. First came a 4-1 win over Scottsdale as Michele Signorelli scored twice. Then the Matadors trounced Imperial Valley (Calif.) 5-0 with five different players finding the net.

Meanwhile, Paradise Valley maintained third place with a 4-0 win over Chandler-Gilbert as four players scored.

Phoenix (4-2, 5-5) is positioning itself for regional play but has three games this week. The Bears topped Scottsdale last week, 4-0, as Ernesto Osornio hit the first and last goals.
