It took a penalty kick shootout to decide the outcome, but tenth-seeded Phoenix (9-5-3) defeated third-seeded Pearl River (12-0-5) in NJCAA DII men's soccer national championship pool play Monday.

  After 110 minutes of scoreless action, PC goalkeeper Ricardo Arteaga stopped three of PR's attempts in the shootout, giving the Bears the edge, 3-2.

  Phoenix will now meet No. 6 seed St. Charles Tuesday at 3 p.m. MST to complete pool play.
