Sixth-seeded St, Charles won its first game in pool play at the NJCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship by slipping past tenth-seeded Phoenix Tuesday in Wichita, Kan., 2-0.
PC has now completed pool play with a 1-1 record and a -2 goal differential after winning a penalty kick shootout Monday over No. 3-seeded Pearl River, That game actually ended in a 0-0 tie.
St. Charles and Pearl River meet Wednesday at 3 p.m. MST.
St. Charles scored both of its goals in a four-minute span early in the second half against the Bears. PC actually peppered the net with 20 shots, but only four were on goal.
