A three-way race is developing in ACCAC softball.
Yavapai, Phoenix and Central Arizona are battling for the top spot, with Eastern Arizona tying to crack the top three.
Yavapai (34-2, 26-1) extended its winning streak to 18 with four more wins last week. First, the Roughriders took down Mesa (7-21, 7-21) 17-4 (5) and 10-1 (5). Kayla Rodgers, Jasmine Moreno and Sierra Griego all had three hits in the opener, while Lovey Kepa'a and Ashley Fields both homered in the nightcap. YC then topped Paradise Valley (2-25, 2-25) 16-0 (5) and 12-1 (5). In game one, Kepa'a hit two out while Moreno, Alyssa Rosales and Griego had one each. Jazlyn Romero had both of PVCC's hits. The second game saw Kepa's hit two more homers while Rosales and Field added one each.
Phoenix (31-3, 25-3) has now won 18 straight. The Bears took two each from Arizona Western (11-24, 6-20) and South Mountain (24-14, 15-11). Against AZW, it was two five inning games, 12-2 and 12-1. In the first, Teagan Dobson , Bella Angelo , Kamryn Moctezuma all hit home runs. In the second, Ali Ashner and Bella Angelo led with three hits each, with Ashner and Dobson going deep. PC then took two from the Cougars, 9-6 and 10-2. In the first game of that twin bill, Ashner cracked another homer while Natalie Castro had two hits and three RBIs. The second contest saw Sierra Meyers , April Garcia , Kamryn Moctezuma and Brianna Hardy all homering.
Central Arizona (29-4, 20-4) slipped back one game when it lost the first game of the week to Eastern Arizona (20-8, 22-6) by a 7-6 score as EAC scored all of its runs in the fifth inning. Charlotte Velasquez collected three hist for the Gila Monsters and Solymar Navarro and Savannah Clausen each hit home runs. Kyana Vieux had three hits for the Vaqueras. CAC bounced back to take game two, 10-6. In that one, Ana Rodriguez collected four hits while Kayla Lunar had three for Eastern. CAC then blanked Scottsdale (5-23, 3-23) twice, 14-0 (5) and 6-0. In game one, Emily Churchill had the big day with three hits and four RBIs. One of those hits was a home run. Garcia and Churchill both took balls out of the yard in the second contest.
