Yavapai maintains four-game lead in ACCAC softball

  Yavapai has maintained its four-game lead in ACCAC softball with wins over Scottsdale, 18-0 and 17-0 both in five innings, but will face six games this week, including two Saturday against its closest challenger Central Arizona.

  The Roughriders (43-2, 35-1) have now won 23 straight and will go on the road to meet Glendale Tuesday. However, they return home Thursday to host Arizona Western and then have the showdown with Central Arizona Saturday which could decide the ACCAC championship.

  Meanwhile, CAC (40-5, 31-5) has won its last 11 in a row. The Vaqueras downed Paradise Valley, 13-4 and 15-1, as well as Glendale, 10-2 and 9-1, all in five innings. They will be on the road for their next six. Tuesday they visit Pima and then they travel to Prescott, AZ, to take on YC.

  Phoenix (30-6, 38-6) had only two games last week, beating Mesa, 9-0 and 11-3, also both in five innings. The Bears entertain Scottsdale Tuesday and visit Chandler-Gilbert Saturday this week.

  Eastern Arizona (38-8, 30-6) is deadlocked with PC for third place. EAC beat Scottsdale 11-1 (5) and 6-2, as well as Paradise Valley, 6-4 and 10-6 (6) and this week visits South Mountain Tuesday and is at home against Glendale Saturday.
