The extreme ends of the ACCAC, Arizona Western in Yuma and Eastern Arizona in Thatcher, each won three times as women's basketball season kicked off last week.
AZW began its season with an 80-30 win over Community Christian as Alliance Ndiba scored 22 and had 16 rebounds. In a 63-38 victory over Snow, Ndiba had 13 points and ten rebounds. Then, as the Matadors topped Utah State-Eastern, 61-49, she added 14 more points, as did Amy Hosking.
EAC got its season underway with two wins over Team Mexico and one against SAGU American Indian Bible College. In a 58-53 win over Mexico Ajae Yoakum led the way with 13 points. Later, in a 56-50 win against the same team, Catarina Ferreira pumped in 16 to lead the way. As the Gila Monsters topped SAGU, 85-48, Tiara Holden and Sheridan Green each scored 12 as the bench accounted for 60 of the points.
There will be another week of non-conference action with league play getting underway Nov. 17.
