Four teams remain unbeaten as ACCAC women's basketball prepares for the start of conference play.
Off to the fastest start is Eastern Arizona at 6-0. The Gila Monsters won three times last week with victories over Morton, 63-44, Frank Phillips, 63-49 and Community Christian, 86-35. During that stretch Catarina Ferreira averaged 14.3 points.
Arizona Western and Scottsdale are both 4-0. AZW's only win a week ago was a 70-57 triumph over Southern Nevada. Faith Silva paced the Matadors with 21 points, while Buse Utku added 15 and Alliance Ndiba scored 13 and hauled down 14 rebounds.
Scottsdale picked up three wins. SCC topped the Benedictine-Mesa JV, 106-33, the GCU Club, 70-27 and Southern Nevada, 73-62. The last two were at the Phoenix Tipoff Classic. Monique Shim, Ashten Martinez and Halle Payne all scored 22 against Benedictine while Shim and Payne equaled each other again in the GCU contest with 15 apiece.
Central Arizona got off to a 3-0 start, including two wins at the Mesa Classic. First, CAC blasted the Arizona Christian JV, 131-53, as last year's ACCAC/Region I Player of the Year knocked down 29.
League play kicks off Wednesday with a full slate of games.
