ACCAC women's basketball is back this week

The ACCAC women's basketball season kicks into high gear Wednesday with four contests that night, although conference play actually resumes Monday with Scottsdale visiting South Mountain In a rescheduled game.

Following a busy holiday break, Central Arizona (12-2, 5-0) tops the standings, followed by Pima (12-3, 5-1) and Arizona Western (14-1, 4-1).

Conference teams played in several tournaments and face a few single contests.

CAC played in the four-day Southern Nevada Tournament, winning two and losing two of its four contests. The Vaqueras opened by splitting two with the host school. First Central beat CSN, 83-74, as Senya Rabouin led with 20 points. The next day, however, CSN won, 83-78, despite Rabouin poring in 27 points. A day later the Vaqueras stopped Utah State-Eastern, 80-75, with Rabouin scoring 20 more and Seairra Hughes equaling that total. The event came to a conclusion in a 51-43 loss to Salt Lake as Rabouin again led with 13.

Meanwhile, Pima went 2-1 at its own Bruce Fleck Classic. First, the Aztecs fell to Frank Phillips, 61-51, with Nikya Orange scoring 12. A day later PCC beat Colorado Northwestern, 83-56, as Jaden Leslie came off the bench to lead the way with 16. The event concluded with a 55-47 win over Snow as Melissa Simmons paced Pima with 14.

AZW won three times at the Pima event. First, the Matadors stopped Colorado Northwestern, 75-55, with Alliance Ndiba leading with 18 points. Western then beat Snow, 65-52, as Ndiba added 12 more. Arizona Western closed the tournament with a 60-54 victory over Frank Phillips. Christeina Bryan poured 19 off the bench.
