The ACCAC women's basketball season kicks into high gear Wednesday with four contests that night, although conference play actually resumes Monday with Scottsdale visiting South Mountain In a rescheduled game.
Following a busy holiday break, Central Arizona (12-2, 5-0) tops the standings, followed by Pima (12-3, 5-1) and Arizona Western (14-1, 4-1).
Conference teams played in several tournaments and face a few single contests.
CAC played in the four-day Southern Nevada Tournament, winning two and losing two of its four contests. The Vaqueras opened by splitting two with the host school. First Central beat CSN, 83-74, as Senya Rabouin led with 20 points. The next day, however, CSN won, 83-78, despite Rabouin poring in 27 points. A day later the Vaqueras stopped Utah State-Eastern, 80-75, with Rabouin scoring 20 more and Seairra Hughes equaling that total. The event came to a conclusion in a 51-43 loss to Salt Lake as Rabouin again led with 13.
Meanwhile, Pima went 2-1 at its own Bruce Fleck Classic. First, the Aztecs fell to Frank Phillips, 61-51, with Nikya Orange scoring 12. A day later PCC beat Colorado Northwestern, 83-56, as Jaden Leslie came off the bench to lead the way with 16. The event concluded with a 55-47 win over Snow as Melissa Simmons paced Pima with 14.
AZW won three times at the Pima event. First, the Matadors stopped Colorado Northwestern, 75-55, with Alliance Ndiba leading with 18 points. Western then beat Snow, 65-52, as Ndiba added 12 more. Arizona Western closed the tournament with a 60-54 victory over Frank Phillips. Christeina Bryan poured 19 off the bench.
