A tight race is developing in ACCAC women's basketball and the conference may have shaken off the major effects of COVID-19.
Last week only one league game had to be postponed as Central Arizona, Arizona Western and Eastern Arizona begin the stretch run as the top contenders. Five games had been postponed in each of the previous two weeks.
CAC (14-3, 7-1) slipped closer to the pack with a 1-1 week. The Vaqueras began with a 65-57 loss at Eastern Arizona (19-3, 9-3). EAC was paced by a 13-11 double-double by Ajae Yoakum and 14 points by Susi Namoa. CAC got 17 points from Mia Ross and a double-double by Seairra Hughes with 13 points and 18 rebounds.
Central bounced back with an 83-65 victory over Pima (12-7, 5-5). Hughes produced another double-double with 20 and 12, while Ross added 21 more.
Meanwhile, Arizona Western won twice to run its winning streak to 13. The Matadors began with a 69-40 win at home over Pima as Teresa Da Silva scored 20 and Alliance Ndiba contributed a 12-17 double-double. AZW then got a big road win over Eastern Arizona with Buse Utku leading the way with 13 and Da Silva adding 12.
