Pima Women's Basketball Wins First Program National Championship

The Pima Community College women's basketball team completed its championship run by winning the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship in Hickory, North Carolina, defeating Kirkwood Community College 64-58 in the title game.

Entering the tournament as the No. 4 seed, Pima put together an impressive run through the bracket, earning wins over Des Moines Area Community College (No. 13), Union College (No. 12), Johnson County Community College (No. 1), and Kirkwood (No. 6) to claim the national title.

The Aztecs' postseason run included capturing both the NJCAA Region I Division II Championship and the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference championship, completing a full sweep from conference play through the national stage.

One year after finishing as national runner-up, Pima returned to the title game and finished the job, securing the program's first national championship.

The Aztecs close the 2025-26 season as national champions, marking a historic milestone for the program.
