No. 2 Eastern Arizona College is headed to the national championship game after a dominant 56-29 semifinal win over No. 6 Trinity Valley Community College on Monday.
The Gila Monsters controlled the game from the opening tip, holding Trinity Valley to just two first-quarter points and never looking back. Eastern Arizona's defense set the tone all night, limiting Trinity Valley to just 19.6% shooting and forcing 20 turnovers.
Offensively, Esmeralda Enriquez led the way with 18 points, while Eanae Dagons added 12 and Navae Guidry recorded a dominant double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. The Gila Monsters also controlled the glass (53-33) and dominated second-chance opportunities, outscoring Trinity Valley 23-2.
Eastern Arizona's depth continued to shine, contributing 24 bench points in the win.
With the victory, Eastern Arizona advances to the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship game where they will face No. 16 New Mexico Junior College on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. MST with the national title on the line.
