No. 2 Eastern Arizona College made history Tuesday night, capturing its first ever NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship with a 57-51 win over No. 16 New Mexico Junior College.

The Gila Monsters battled through a tight, defensive contest that featured five ties and multiple lead changes early. After trailing 29-27 at halftime, Eastern Arizona took control in the second half, outscoring New Mexico 30-22 over the final two quarters.

Eastern Arizona's perimeter shooting proved to be the difference, knocking down 10 three-pointers in the win. Esmeralda Enriquez led the way with 16 points, while Danaeja Romero-Ah Sam added 14 and Eanae Dagons chipped in 12.

Defensively, the Gila Monsters held New Mexico to just 32.3% shooting and limited the Thunderbirds to 2-of-18 from beyond the arc.

Eastern Arizona also showcased its depth with 20 bench points and controlled key moments down the stretch to secure the program's first national title.

With the win, Eastern Arizona caps off a historic season and delivers the 4th national championship to the ACCAC in 2025-26.
