Cochise sits atop the ACCAC women's soccer standings after 3-0 victories over South Mountain and GateWay last week. The Apaches are 6-0-1 in conference play and 7-4-1 in all matches. Maria Azarias scored twice in each game giving her eight goals for the year.
Nineteeth-ranked Pima is barely behind. The Aztecs are 6-1 but suffered their first ACCAC loss of the season, 2-1, Saturday at Chandler-Gilbert. Elena Etchamendy netted the game-winner in the 74th minute. PCC also had a 2-1 victory over Mesa with Emma Franzione breaking a 1-1 deadlock in the 83rd minute. Pima is 9-4 in all matches.
Chandler-Gilbert won two during the week. Kenadi Green had two goals in a 4-0 win at Arizona Western and added another in the Pima game. The Coyotes now have an 11-3 overall record and 6-2 ACCAC mark.
Paradise Valley remains in contention at 5-1-2 and 10-3-3. The Pumas beat Phoenix, 2-0, and Glendale, 3-0. Diana Sanchez scored twice during the week.
For AZW, the loss to Chandler-Gilbert was its first in conference play. The Matadors are 5-1-1 in league play and 9-3-2 overall.
A couple of key match-ups take place Saturday as Chandler-Gilbert visits Paradise Valley and Cochise travels to Arizona Western.
