Fifteenth-seeded Yavapai fell in the opening round of the NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship to second-seeded and second-ranked Odessa (Texas), 3-1 Thursday.
The Roughriders will now face tenth-seeded Northeastern (Colo.) Friday at 7 a.m. Arizona time.
It took YC some time to get rolling against Odessa, now 26-2, which won 25-10, 25-19, 25-21, 25-23.
Yavapai was led by Mailani Manuel, who had 14 kills. Heather Wanninger contributed 24 digs, Manuel had 22 and Alia Rasmussen, 14. Rasmussen also added 30 assists.
YC is now 12-6 for the year.
