Scottsdale wins first match in NJCAA DII volleyball consolation

  Scottsdale has reached the consolation bracket championship at the NJCAA DII Volleyball Championship with a 3-1 victory over 15th-seeded Mott and a similar 3-1 win over 11th-seeded Lake Sumter State.

  The Artichokes will now face McHenry Co. in the ninth place match Saturday at 9 a.m. MST.

  SCC, the seventh seed, won its three sets easily against Mott, not allowing more than 16 points. They did fall in set two, 25-17.

  Kamilah Anderson paced the Scottsdale offense with 14 kills, while Brooklyn Casey had 12 and Shauna Rath added ten.

  Casey also contributed 16 digs with Kylie Ostrovsky and Avery Dunn getting 12 each.

  Rath chipped in with 26 assists and Macy Wilkie had 20.

  Then, in a 3-1 win over Lake Sumter State, Casey had 16 kills and Kamilah Anderson 12. Casey also led in digs with 21 and Rath added 18 plus 19 assists. Wilke contributed 20 assists.

  SCC is now 21-8.
